Greetings Lora Beth,
My dear friend Paula had enlightend me for years on Unity, after eight years, I my Heart pulled me to attend Unity. Paula advised that I start out with the history of Unity. Paula gave me The Unity Story. Since, I have made it my goal to read all the Classics, and take every course relating to the Classics. When I heard your first radio show, I was sooo very happy. The History is so very important to our understanding of Unity, our connection and our church services. Thank You!

Hi Lora Beth,
I enjoyed today's broadcast. It's amazing how Charles Fillmore's writings are relevant today.
Atom Smashing Power of Mind was first published in 1949 (according to Library of Congress sources), after Charles Fillmore had passed away the previous year. The forward to the book says the chapters first appeared as articles in Unity magazine over a period of half a century, one of them going back as far as the year 1898.

I wonder if Unity Magazine is indexed to help discover the original year that articles were published?

Keep up the great work. Your show is one of my favorites on Unity.FM.

Hi Lora Beth,
I trust you had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to a peaceful and prosperous New Year. I have been thinking about suggestions for books for Hooked On Classics, and a book in my collection has just caught my attention is More Power to You by Charles Roth. I haven't read it for a long time, and looking at the table of contents, I wondered if it would lend itself well to the discussions.
love and blessings,
Nancy

Hi Lora Beth,
I'm probably in the "wrong" section again :( - but I thought I'd respond to your request about the pace of Hooked On Classics. For me, one book per month is about right, but I can understand why people might feel it is a bit quick. Don't those 15 minute sections go so fast??!! I wondered if there was any way to factor in some extra time to cover points that weren't able to be made. I don't know what that would look like, as it would not stick strictly to a monthly format...perhaps a 6-week cycle, with 4 or 5 weeks concentrating on the book, chapter by chapter like at present, with an extra week for "extras". Have there been any other suggestions forthcoming? love and blessings, Nancy

Greetings and Warm Wishes from Dalsland, Sweden =)

re: podcast from 21 August 2008

I am so glad that you were both talking about the "conscious" prayer process versus the "unconscious" thought process during your segment about "The Great Amen". My first experiences with affirmative prayer are from reading and attending services from the Church of Religious Science (founded by Ernest Holmes). I found this form of prayer much more enriching than the kind I was raised on. But along my continuing spiritual journey, I stumbled upon "The Secret" (which in small town Sweden, was quite a surprise)... After watching that film, then reading books suggested from that film... I became a bit terrified of my thoughts. I was afraid that every thought, no matter how seemingly insignificant, would manifest itself in my life. What a scary thought! I would then obsess over the fact that I had a negative thought, then thinking "oh boy" now I'm putting even more energy into the negative thought... Yikes! So, I decided to stop reading those books, since they seemed to take the spiritualness away from the experience, for me anyway.

But after reading another of Eric Butterworth's books and articles and affirmative prayer from Unity, I feel like my spiritual batteries have been recharged =)

All of that being said, I am glad to hear that John McLean disagrees with the belief that "every thought is a prayer", because as he stated, I believe too that prayer is on a much deeper level and you have to be consciously present in your thoughts during that prayer process.

I am a newcomer to Unity. I had found about about Unity from reading a book by Ernest Holmes, "Living the Science of Mind". From that day forward, I bought several books from Unity's founders and I am truly happy that I did =)

Thank you for sharing your show online! Since I have not locally found any strong spiritual communities where I live in Sweden, I am beyond grateful that UnityFM is always there for me when I hop on the internet =) Many thanks and with kindest regards, Angelica
