Thanks for "Taking A Stand: An Alternative To The Voices of Hate". I appreciated your addressing the issue in such a clear and comprehensive way. This issue is something that has impacted my life in a deep way.

Hate and fear are now strategically disseminated through all media outlets and is accepted as "unquestionable truth" by a growing number of people. Case in point, a video presentation has been distributed via email which proposes that Muslim women are now reproducing at an alarming rate and that in the near future Muslims will out number Christians therefore implying the disappearance of the Christian faith.

The video is coupled with "outdated" demographic information from the 1960s. It is designed to trigger both fear (we are going to loose our faith and way of life) and desire (we need to spread our faith throughout the world). This is an effective and deadly combination which Nazi Germany applied through their propaganda machine (fear and desire) and also used by Jim Jones against the members of the People's Temple.

The current polarization along race, politics and religious beliefs is a carefully concocted blend that when scrutinized in the light of Spirituality it reveals the lack of eternal truth, life and Divine love. The book "Virus of The Mind" by Richard Brodie (which was discussed in the show) clearly explains how these viruses spread (and also how to become immune). Another eye opening resource is "Mind Programming" by Eldon Taylor (also discussed in other Unity.FM shows).

I became aware of the reality of this "Fear and Hate Virus" (F1H1 Virus) as this country invaded Iraq on the heels of 9/11 and observed its continued mutation, duplication and transmission to date (specially the health care debate).

I faced the choice to succumb to the negativity and sense of helplessness prevalent today or take an aggressive position and launch a counter attack "against" the fear and hate (along the lines of "fighting for peace" which is quite the oxymoron). Neither of these options made "spiritual sense". There had to be a "third way".

In prayer and meditation I came to the realization that "becoming the change I wanted to see" was the only "spiritually sane" option. On February 18, 2009 I made a decision to unplug from commercial television and from chasing the news feeds on the Internet. This decision was not an ascetic knee-jerk reaction, but rather calculated steps to detoxify from the exposure to F1H1.

Taking these steps have afforded more clarity and peace as Spirit has more of my time, room and attention to work with. I now intentionally increasingly (yes it is a process) express gratitude to others, dedicate time to read spiritual material, listen to Unity.fm, mediate, pray and be of service to others. Having detoxified over a 7 month period has equipped me to now recognize negative and manipulative spin and promptly shut my mind (turn the other cheek) to its influence. Instead of having my emotions played with and my mind programmed by “Commercial Interests” to compulsively react with fear to current issues or to purchase useless products (triggered by a cleverly crafted perception of need and lack )I have been able to take “educated and conscious” positive action to gradually “become the change I want to see”.

I'm grateful to the Unity Movement for a spiritually balanced approach to life and specially to Unity.fm for for providing “global” ready access to this philosophy. Many Blessings To All!!!

I just wanted to thank you for this program, I listen on UnityFM and subscribe to the podcasts so I can listen again when the need arises. Since there are no Unity churches in Sweden, I truly value all the great messages on UnityFM.

I first attended a Unity of Denver Church in 1992. I had been drawn to Unity by the publications I had received as gifts as well as subscribed to. In the 90’s I was active at Unity of Denver and extended myself to the new ministry of High Country Community Church founded by Scott and Doris. The last 12 years I have experienced a series of changes and now live in Loveland Colorado. I believe this will be an enlightening group and appreciate the opportunity to participate.

I am new to Unity and have really just dived into the teachings with both feet. I discoverd Unity while living in Tacoma, Washington and it really helped me to understand some things. However, I am now back home in Kansas City and it seems to be turning into a really difficult time for me. I am wondering if I made the right choice to come back. How do I get clarity on what I should do?
