I have chosen to post my comments on 'Opening to the Path' here since you have asked me on a couple occiasions to tell my story. It is better when it can be drawn out through these tools that you and Unity Chuch have laid out.
With that, here are my short comments on this week's lesson;
What does it mean to recognize that the ‘kingdom of God is within me’? This is the act of knowing me through grace and forgiveness. Letting all things that hold me apart from my awareness of the presence of God as my own presence allows me to become a co-creator with my Source. With this in mind, I took some time to determine what works for me, personally. I researched and compiled, read and wrote, redrafted and completed my own mission statement and vision statement of how it will appear. I know it will not be exact, as my sketches appear, but these things that I have drawn have proven to take form and continue to do so in their own fashion.
This leads to the next point of discussion for this week; we must be ‘born from above’. This is not to say we fly into this world on a meteorite from the literal ‘above’, yet it sometime may appear to be that way when I come from the strength that is provided by the Christ within. Sometimes in my historic religious past, this relationship was assigned to the term the ‘Holy Spirit’. On Magnum PI, Tom S. would often refer to this communication coming from the ‘still, small voice’. Listening is good, too.
Finally,’ being of this world but not in it’ is the exit plan, Plan B, Free Will. Preconditioning can keep some people from crossing the street without anther person holding their hand. Instilled fear from my youth can limit my choices in this grown up world. So for me, I buffer my fears with friends, co-conspirators for good, allies, coalitions, yet the one thing that ultimately works best for me is those few moments alone in the stillness, Not Of This World.
I am off to work on my current project. My application to serve in Nigeria as the Senior Health Advisor is under consideration by USAID, so I am researching how best to accomplish the goals they have selected to channel energy into this position. Of course, this is where, 'being in this world, but not of it' comes into play, as I set about to reduce the Under 5 Mortality Rate (U5MR) and the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).
One of the reasons I do this, it come to memory that 'even as you do this for another, you do this for me'. Although this is a paraphrase, I am guessing you may understand. My own children are adults now and doing their own life service on their terms. Now I can use my skills for another. This is a demostration of the butterfly theory, which says 'when a butterfly flaps its wings, it can be felt around the world'. Be In Good Health.
