I believe that Jesus would want all people provided for in the best way but not at the expense of others. To provide care for one and take it from another or make another pay more for the same care is not what I think Jesus would do.
I agree that we should have a goal of helping the less fortunate, but I would think Jesus would be more interested in your personal actions in helping others. He didn't express a lot of interest in politics.
I think, Rev Tom, you summarised it all very nicely at the end, quoting the famous words that Jesus said, "When I was hungry, you fed me, when I was thirsty you gave me to drink...". I live in the UK and my family live in the US so I am listening to…
Socialism seems to be a dirty word in this current society, but ironically, in my opinion, Jesus had socialist principles.
I raised this issue at the end of the broadcast about healthcare. I'd be interested in hearing the listeners' responses.
